NSW Digital Design System

Transitioning to the public sector and stepping into an enterprise design system role has allowed me to apply the skills and knowledge gained from working in the private sector - where I had the opportunity to work both as an experience designer and front-end engineer.

As the top level NSW Government design system, our work has significant impact - even the smallest change cascades through other NSW government design systems and their customers, affecting how millions of people interact with NSW government websites daily. The role requires a close attention to detail, focusing on context and implementation scenarios, strict adherence to accessibility guidelines, compliance with government and industry regulations, and evaluating technical feasibility and implementation constraints.

Even though product design remains at the heart of everything, there is a greater emphasis on long term outcomes and prioritising opportunities as opposed to delivering outputs - everything operates at a higher level of abstraction focusing on reusable bite size chunks.

Digital NSW website

Beyond the design system, I lead UX/UI initiatives for the Digital NSW website. I work with a multidisciplinary team of content, graphic, and strategy designers. My role involves understanding stakeholder goals, user needs, and context and leverage our design system to transform complex information into digestible chunks that naturally guide users through their journey.
